Absolutely gripping novel with complex characters, masterfully crafted mysteries and breadcrumbs, and such a unique, vivid aesthetic the world came alive in front of my eyes. The themes are painfully relevant. It is obvious just how much love, time, and research has gone into this piece of work – cannot wait for the second novel.

I was constantly noticing things, making theories, getting some of them right and realizing I had completely misunderstood others. But underneath all the history, mythology, science, and world building is a woman who has spent her entire life trying to understand the rules well enough to deserve a place in the world. I don’t think I’ve ever related so deeply to a character whose search for what is truly right eventually forces her to confront how much violence she is willing to commit in the name of it.

the Author
I’m an autistic philosopher who spent 13 years masking and working hard in corporate marketing, only to quit my job and travel the world full-time for 4 years. With late-diagnosed AuDHD, I got back to my childhood dream and biggest obsession: writing books. Spending years learning to follow rules I didn’t understand, and eventually choosing to step outside them, shaped how I write characters who do the same. I obsess over plot, foreshadowing, and the deeper meaning behind every story I tell.
Why&How
Ever since I was little, I loved archaeology and adventure. After traveling the world and exploring dozens of archaeological sites, I became fascinated by how societies build the myths, rituals, and doctrines that hold them together — and what happens when those structures start to crack. That fascination with buried histories and hidden truths became the foundation for Other Island’s world: a society built on ritual and control, and the search for what it’s hiding.
